AI safety — layered, not hoped-for
- Every kid input passes a safety filter before reaching the AI
- Conversations about self-harm, medical issues, or anything sensitive automatically redirect the kid to talk to a parent or trusted adult
- The AI is instructed (and reinforced through multiple checks) to never claim to be human, never replace parent/teacher authority, never discuss inappropriate topics
- All AI output is filtered and flagged before display
Parent visibility into everything
- Every AI conversation is logged and reviewable
- Flagged messages surface prominently in the parent dashboard
- Activity timeline shows what your kid did, when, and for how long
- Weekly AI-generated insights explain patterns and suggest actions
Access controls
- Site-wide family password (no public access)
- Per-kid 4-digit PIN (sibling privacy)
- Parent PIN gates the parent dashboard separately
- Smart active-time screen limits (can't be gamed by leaving the tab open)
Data & privacy
- No advertising, ever. We don't sell data, target ads, or track cross-site
- COPPA-aligned design for users under 13
- Parent consent required for all account creation for kids under 13
- All data encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest
- Minimal data collection — only what's needed for the experience
- Parents can export or delete all data at any time
